With more than twenty years of experience, Meredith Ward opened the gallery in 2004 in a landmark townhouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Meredith Ward Fine Art specializes in American art from the 19th century to the present, and has a particular strength in American modernism as well as selective holdings by American abstract artists of the 1930s and 1940s. The gallery represents the estates of Flora Crockett, Larry Day, Joseph Fiore, and Steve Wheeler.

Telling Stories: Edith Halpert and Her Artists
October 9 - December 11, 2020
Meredith Ward Fine Art presents the online exhibition, Telling Stories: Edith Halpert and Her Artists. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing stories about Edith Halpert and her artists – Stuart Davis, Marsden Hartley, John Marin, Elie Nadelman, Charles Sheeler, and Joseph Stella – told through artworks at Meredith Ward Fine Art. Some of these works actually passed through the Downtown Gallery, and all of them speak to the relationships between this legendary gallerist and the artists she championed.
Listen to Halpert discuss the functions of the art gallery: WNYC Archives.Read the stories about Halpert and her artists in the documents section below or visit our website. If you would like to receive our “Telling Stories” emails, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
